What's in your closet?
The attire for tonight's celebration is leather. I really dislike it when you are told what to wear, hmmm let's see, the only leather I have in my closet is maybe some leather boots...I think that'll have to do!
It's old year's day
In the Guyanese culture we dance the old year out and the new year in. I hope you dance!

Soup
About to chow down on this amazing split pea soup I made with dumplings and turkey wings. In my culture it's usually made with chicken feet…yes, chicken feet. Don't knock it until you try it! Oh, did I mention it's my first time making soup. My gran gran says I was to busy playing when she wanted to teach me how to cook; the truth is though she never had the patience. She's in her eighties now and so better late than never. I did good!
Temp
I'm still a temp…ugh! I'm amazed I am still able to pay my bills on time and I am not making anything close to what I made when I had a real job. Grateful though! I love getting a paycheck every week. Remember when employers paid once a week, they should really consider going back to doing that.
Beginning again
So I'm reading this new book Americanah , a Novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I love to read, just haven't picked up a book in a while. I don't make resolutions anymore, like regrets, they are a waste of time. Instead I'm beginning again with my love of reading. Every new year is a chance to begin again.

Friday happiness
I've never paid so much attention to Fridays like I do now...hmm, wonder why? My inspiration today however is something I heard Desmond Tutu say about his dear friend Nelson Mandela "He was virtually a flawless human being with an amazing capacity to forgive", I'm working on my capacity to forgive.

So, I lost my job little over a month ago…amazing how someone can just swoop down like a vulture and take a job eleven plus years in the making away. I'm now reduced to temp work (no offense) and the boss asked me to run downstairs and pick up her lunch today…what? I'm an established professional in my field, I am not your errand girl.
